Important End of Grade Testing Information

Federal and State Law Requirement:
Face-to-Face Testing Required for EOGs

As we approach the end of a most unusual school year, we would like to share information on the expectations for students to participate in end-of-year testing. Unlike spring 2020, all students are expected to take the following tests as required by federal and state laws:

  • End-of-grade tests in reading (grades 3-5), mathematics (grades 3-5), and science (grade 5)

Unfortunately, it is not possible to have students take these tests at home. Students will take these tests in person, in school, with health and safety protocols in place. The well-being of our students, teachers, and communities is the highest priority. We understand there may be concerns about students in virtual settings coming to school to take a test. Please consider the value of having information on your student’s learning for this school year, particularly in planning for instruction next year.

As we have all experienced in the past several months, by working together we can make the best decisions for each student. All remote students will receive information on how to schedule an EOG session. Information will be communicated via email and in packet pick-up on Thursday, May 6. EOG sessions will be scheduled for the week of May 17.

If you have any concerns or needs, please contact Kristy Horner at or 336-599-2823 ext. 227 for more information or a discussion on how we can best meet the needs of your student and your family.

Fill out this FORM and send it to school when you are finished recording.

We are so excited about this opportunity this year! Once the video is ready, we will share it with the school community.
An Exciting Field Day Message From Mrs. Bowes

We are very excited to have field day this year!  To comply with the Governor’s restrictions we will be having field day on two separate days.  Field day for K-2 will be held on Friday, May 21st beginning at 9:00 and grades 3-5 will have their field day on Friday, May 14th that will also begin at 9:00.  There is no rain date this year.  If rain cancels our outdoor field day I would still have 3 activities for the students that we would do inside.

At this time we cannot have volunteers on campus. Teachers/assistants will be running the activities. Parents, siblings, etc. will not be allowed to attend and watch the field day activities.

Please make sure your child is dressed comfortably for field day – no sandals, flip flops or crocs – tennis shoes WITH socks help us have a safe field day.  Towels, sunscreen, hats, and water bottles are all acceptable.  It is especially important
for each student to have a water bottle as they are not allowed to use the drinking fountains in the school
.  Please put your child’s name on anything they bring, this allows us to return items to students should they leave anything.

Kona Ice will be at our field day. A flyer with the 4 different ice treats that will be offered along with the cost will be sent later in an email from your child's teacher.  When sending money please put it in a zip lock bag or envelope with your student's name, teacher, and which ice treat they are getting.

Remote students are invited to join us for field day.  If your student will be coming, please let their teacher know as I need to give a count to Kona Ice so they are sure to bring enough supplies.
